Robert I,  popularly known as Robert the Bruce, was King of Scotland from 1306 until his death in 1329. Robert was one of the most famous warriors of his generation and eventually led Scotland during the First War of Scottish Independence against England. 

Born: 11 July 1274 in Turnberry Castle. 

Died: 7th June 1329, Cardross. 

Spouses:  Firstly to Isabella of Mar (1296-1296) and secondly to Elizabeth de Burgh 1302-1327)

His body lies in Dunfermline Abbey and his heart in Melrose Abbey.

reigned as King of Scots from 1371 to his death as the first monarch of the House of Stewart. He was the son of Walter Stewart, 6th High Steward of Scotland and of Marjorie Bruce the daughter of Robert the Bruce and of his first wife Isabella of Mar.
